Surfer's Paradise changes

Posted by Dennis Loyer at March 08. 2010

Try this .MAS file. Just drop it in the SurfersParadise directory, overwriting the original .MAS

I based this on the Surfer's Paradise version currently available on rFactor Central

I removed the killer walls :( and replaced them with a series of nasty rumble strips. You can hit these at full speed and survive, as long as you don't hit something else. But you will NOT be able to maintain control, so cutting is not a good idea. They're set back far enough to allow someone to run up on the curb slightly, and the run-off areas are clear enough to be use-able...it's not as dangerous as cutting, but still not a recommended path to take.

Let me know what you think.

Crap.  :)  I think we have a GMWC version already in the track pack.  Hoss had already done some work on the entrance into T1, but had not redone the perpendicular walls.  However, the assets within that you changed, the GMTs, should be able to drop right into the GWMC version.

That's OK, it doesn't matter if you use any of them or not.  I looked at it as a learning experience. I picked up enough to start thinking about creating my own track...maybe an airport track based on Boeing Field here in Seattle. I thought about a street track in downtown Seattle. something with a nice view of the iconic Pike's Place Market, but decided the elevation changes were too abrupt, at least for a GP track, though it might still work as a GT track. For simplicity, I may start out with  just a "fantasy" type track...something used by local club racers or the like.

Dennis, I have a copy of BTB which is what I use to design my tracks. It's awesome for laying down designs, but lacks in object creation/placement. If you wanted to work together on a track, you could send me a layout and I could toss it together.

Dennis, if you can weld those changes onto Hoss' Surfers in the GMWC track pack, I'd like to schedule Surfers into 2010B as our Aussie stop.
