GMWC Theme

Posted by AJ Weber (Admin) at March 07. 2010

So I was roughing out a base new Rusyn skin, refering to the current one and it hit me.  Duh.  I know a cool project we could try.  Marshall.  Fender.  Carvin.  Ernie Ball.  Etc.

We could do our own audio track for the mod.

My initial thought is to just lay down a bunch of 12 bar blues.  Just about any style can project onto 12 bar blues.  Thrash, Jazz, Country, you name it.   So if we only had a percussion guy to lay down a base track, then whoever is string inclined (or whatever for that matter, with some skill and expression in that whatever of course) could lay down however many rounds of 12 bars they want (not that we'll include them all).

Well, as it turns out, Matt Steele, a previous member, and current co-worker of mine, and friend of Tommy G, is a drummer.  I also know a guy (Geoff Wood) who started a studio and is also a drummer.  And I would not be surprised of we had others out there.

I'm not actually sure how it would evolve once we start.  But I think this sort of music project is probably better that way.  But it seems clear to me that we'd start with a drum track.

Tech-wise, I'm not current.  I still have a fostex cassette 4-track.  So you guys may be able to ramp me up on current stat of the art.

Just seen this post AJ. I am an amateur musician (when not simracing), I would be more than happy to help out with this, not sure about a blues track for the mod though, I would be inclined to apply something a little more modern sounding but anything can be done really.  Currently using Ableton Live 8, Cubase SX and Reason.  Be sure to let me know what you have in mind.  This appeals to me alot as it would give me a good chance to apply some racing sound effects to music, something I have been wanting to experiment with.

And even better would be some recorded sounds of Hoss's commentry.
