Special Events

Hi Guys,

Just wondering if special events such as this weekends Indy quali are point scoring championship rounds?

Also is anyone keen for a race around Indy after the event. Say 50 laps, just for fun.

No, the results of the special events do not contribute to the season championships.  It frees us up to not worry about how formal or proven the special events are, let alone how to fairly integrate results from an event that might be very unconventional.  Plus, it allows us to indulge in events that not everyone might find attractive -- like this weekend's setup-focused oval event, allowing folks to opt-out without fear of disadvantaging themselves in the season points standings.

Generally the only 'tangible' thing at stake for the special events are the associated vehicle decals.

I won't be making this race due to a family commitment.  Enjoy going round and round in circles, endless turning left.

as this special event is the topic at hand let me say i enjoyed it and the preparation during the week. i tried however never could get my car to hold and carry any respectable speed---if there is a setting i didn't try i am unaware of it----i had the car close during the week but slowly lost the progress and never did get it back---the forces on the car just turning left should make it easier but it was not for me---i was unable to find any setups  that would help-----race day arrives and naturally i do also (late i mean)- no luck with the setup---again i had the car close but  gave it up in an attempt to get more speed----its a special event and bears no points so fun is the only prize and i think we all got a fair share of that-----Hoss ---an idea----a special event like yesterdays but with two man teams--they could practice drafting and working on setups-----a setup nerd like me could pair up with someone and get help----i think two man teams would be a blast----anyone that could not find a team could be assigned together----just a thought----what about an endurance race using the current teams----indys could be assigned to teams that need help----allow drivers to drive only a limited number of laps----just brainstorming  maybe give you and AJ some food for thought---you guys are great and i enjoy the league---thanks for having me---sammy

although not an oval fan, i enjoyed last seasons race, couldnt make last night.  I'm not great with setups form scratch same as sammy soi like his idea, or is there a way of running the oval specail with fixed setup cars giving everyone equal cars?
