Next GP Event: Donington vs. Silverstone

Posted by AJ Weber (Admin) at December 18. 2011

We will be switching back to Saturday only as the "official" event time.  However, we will not be immediately going into a scored championship season.  Instead, the next championship season will start in the spring.

As you may have noticed we now have Rolling Rankings (RR) as a widget on the site (GMRR), and the RR will be the focus of competition tracking until the spring.  During this period we will still be running regularly scheduled GP events.  Each event will be preceded by a poll between two candidate tracks.  The winner of the poll is where the event will take place.  During the poll both tracks will be on the servers.

Note too, that since this is a RR-only based period, if people decide to gather at any time, and at least 3 people race, that race will still count towards the RR.  Therefore a slot like Friday night is not necessarily 'dead'.

The first two tracks to choose from, as the title suggests, are Donington (full) and Silverstone (NHS GP).  A UK showdown.  The 'official' event itself may still be after Christmas and New Years, although like I said, that does not mean racing that 'counts' cannot happen.

This is actually a tough one for me.  While I think Silverstone is a bit more excellent as a GP layout design, Donington is no slouch, and we have not been to Donington often.  I probably won't vote until I drop 20 laps or so on both again.

edit: actually, looking at the RR, I may wait to see what C likes, or more precisely, dislikes, before I vote.  :)
