GMWC Scoring (including Finals talk)

The FInals are really about scoring an overal GMWC champion.  They came about because of our 'split' into a Friday night GP series (GMGP) and a Saturday series (GMFC).  We decided we needed some sort of unification mechanism, to not only crown a single GMWC champion, but also to provide a sort of general glue between the two timeslots.

So the first question going forward would be whether or not to continue to have a unification mechanism.

The the next question, if we are to have a unification mechanism, is whether that should be a FInals, some sort of cross-series scoring, or something else.

If it is to be FInals, then the question is what should the format be, and how should it be promoted.

If it is cross-series scoring, what should the scoring be.

My current lean is for a unifier, and that that unifier be cross-series scoring crafted in as fair a way as possible given a mix of 2 race per cup people and 4 race per cup people.

It's always going to be difficult as the two series run completely separate from each other.  I do believe that you were on the right lines for a "cup for all" with last seasons Finals although there was too much racing for me personally.  At this point I am thinking having to qualify to race the finals but I know you won't go with that, but it would really be the carrot for the main GP series when people have to score "x" amount of points to race the Finals, but that would just dwindle the numbers even more in the leagues current state.  So right now that idea is pointless but certainly food for thought.

Imo it makes no sense to combine both time slots. it its possible that a driver only races on friday and others only on saturday. so they never compete against each other but are combined in one rank. Its kinda the same thing in iRacing that I compete against drivers I never meet on the racetrack. but there are more hundred racers competing in a series and race points are awarded by the strength of the field. A final is not a bad idea, but make it one race that is maybe longer with reduced fuel or tire wear on a clasic track and I would like it. but not 8 races.

For final it should be alot of laps at a certain track with refuling and higher tyre wear to create more pit stops i think refuling should be brought back to normal races aswell but thats for another thread i think .
