2010B CSP Beta

Posted by AJ Weber (Admin) at February 18. 2010

We are now beginning a beta phase for 2010B CSP, due to the new content we are deploying (the modular carshape project).

In case you have not noticed, we are switching to all new carshapes for 2010B.  The formula, and behavior of the cars are still based on the 2010A cars, but they now look different.  This will be our first season ever without the FIS based shape.

The recommended procedure is to do this in a separate install from your normal league install.  Just in case something is horribly awry.  Even if stuff works great, having a separate install for each makes it convienient when you want to go online.

  1. Copy or install another whole rFactor, including GridMotorsports.  You will not need to use another activation.  rFactor will automatically use the activation you already have.
  2. Sync to testing, not stable.
  3. Do CSP stuff.

If you are uncomfortable with this, just don't do it, and wait for the official release.  This is beta, and not a beta from a software house with a dedicated QA department, but rather from hobbiests who have other day jobs, and no QA department.  So be careful and don't mess up your main rFactor install.

And yes, this is terse and not a guide.  All three steps are already documented.  If you are not already confident in all three steps,  you should probably wait.

A sync to testing.

And I'm not sure if a raw copy works on all Windowses or not.  It works for me on XP 32.

So I should be able to just copy my rFactor folder, drop it somewhere else, and sync to the test server? Sweet... I can't wait... this is going to be awesome (hopefully)
