2010A7 - Silverstone. Overtaking.

So we said it'd be useful to have a thread discussing the racing characteristics of a track before each event. So here's one such.

I reckon the race could be a procession, with very small relative speeds. Alternatively, we'll see relative speed differences big enough to pass on the straights.

The obvious place we'll be scrapping is in the last complex past the Bridge. Was that all called Woodcote in those days ?

Anyhow, haven't yet established whether this is two oppts or just one. If I have the line through the first part (left) and I'm guaranteed to have the apex available for the 2nd part (right) or is it possible for someone to take the whole complex side by side ?

I could think of better places on the circuit to make a pass,  better to be patient and wait for the long sweeping turn 1 or after.

It's not safe to take the entire complex side by side IMO. I know that when I have a good line through one, it shuts the door on any pass through there. I think our best passing opportunities are going to rely on passes at the end of Hangar. When I was on track with Alan, that was the only time I felt safe enough to pass him.

Indeed Zack, but did you think to consider that during our brief spell on the circuit together, that I may have been heavy with fuel and running primes?.  Basically it's easy to pass a much heavier car anywhere!. And one should not base their conclusion on one small experience.
