Is the switch to Mumble now official?

Posted by Dennis Loyer at May 14. 2010

Just wondering as the machine I was using to run the TS server has crapped itself and died. I think it strained too hard and blew a vessel.....OK, enough with the poo analogies.

If we haven't made the official move to Mumble yet, I can probably get something up and working as a temporary fix tonight.

Yeah - we're running mumble this weekend.   Hopefully it goes smoothly.

I specifically mentioned it in the event announcement, and had meant to get a more detailed setup guide posted before today (though I still think the mumble setup is very straightforward).

And I still have the backup teamspeak running, so it's there if needed.  I'm certainly not recommending anyone uninstall teamspeak just yet.

I'll be getting a mic tday (hopefully). Anyone know how to setup PTT on a gamepad, with any special instructions for mumble. I noticed rFactor has a PTT setting, does this have anything to do with setting this up?

I am getting awkward issue on Mumble:

- Strange metallic whisper on any windows sound, including Rfactor.

It is so bad that I have to close rfactor+mumble, and try again. No way to race.

It may not appear when I open mumble again. (mumble must be open before rfactor).

I never had issue over VOIP programs (Teamspeak 2 and 3, Skype, MSN).

Any idea how to fix it?
