2008B Season

Up to League

2008B Season

Posted by Tom Giangreco at August 26. 2008

I think a few seasons ago we lost the season wrap up that Hoss used to do. I really looked forward to those. Given the size of the league, general league duties and I'm sure a host of real life responsibilities, we probably won't see the wrap up again. However, I don't think that precludes Us from talking about the last season. As for my part, I think this was one of the most competitive seasons overall front to back that I've see with GMWC. There was much more participation from week to week. We "lost" a few good drivers, and regained a few of them back. That's good news. I am really looking forward to next season. Sounds like there will a bevy of new cars out on track.

Areas improved: I felt like I improved in my consistency. Setup ability improved a little this season as well.

Areas to work on: Overall speed.

Feel free to post your own comments. You don't have to do what I did. I just thought I'd get A ball rolling.

So here's to a great season past, and to an amazing season to look forward to. Cheers!

I joined in Mexico half way through but have thoroughy enjoyed it so far.  I was amazed to get some pole positions and fastest lap in the first round but was unable to repeat in other rounds. Proabably because i spent ages testing for Mexico but not so much for the others.

Dont think the season standings really reflect the year as i did well in sprints but had appalling luck in Feature races, Should have won Silverstone but not for running out of fuel 2 corners from the pit, and got flipped over the wall and out of point finishes twice. Hoping for a better run in the new season.

All in all the league is a credit to its creators and its members and long may it continue, very well organised and very well run. With the exception of one driver that has knocked me off with oppurtunistic passes in both the two races he took part, the quality of driving is first rate with fair and fun competetion.

Roll on 2008C

What league would be complete without the jabs, rivalries, and 'differing interpretations' of events. :)

I especially miss the Gregg v Moe and Hoss v Matt (Steele) rivalries.  Those were particularly colorful.  Actually, maybe I don't miss that last one so much. :|

Hopefully, Hoss will do a 2008B wrap.  I know he has mentioned it.

2008C already has some pretty big drama brewing.  In case anyone has missed it, Antares is in uncertain times.  It may continue on much like 2008B, it may redefine itself, another team or teams may be born out of ashes, or there may be a pile of free agents flooding the market.  Or Abe may return (one can always hope).

Well I joined at the Interlagos GP with a flight yoke, a set of rudder pedals and a dodgy USB headset, the following weekend, I had the same setup other than having a new Logitech headset, and the following week after that, I had myself a new Logitech race wheel and pedals.

As for the racing, the first couple were unpredictable and certainly entertaining for me, but when the new wheel came along, i soon saw the difference in my driving (as has been seen this season) I would have been more than happy to have been mid field battling it out but surprisingly found myself up front challenging for pole most of the time. What surprised me more was the fact i have finished 4th in the DC in my very first season after the slightly dodgy start to the season!

And I'm going to use a quote that Matt has used, "the league is a credit to its creators and its members and long may it continue, very well organised and very well run" and to top off that comment, I would like to say thank you to "C" for all his help when i first joined, Dennis for the continued support after the disappearance of  "C", Moe for being the first person I talked too when I first got connected to TS, the current team drivers (and future drivers) for providing me with some challenging moments and last but not least Hoss for granting me entry into the league.

So roll on 08C season, and may I be the first to wish everyone good luck for the upcoming season as I race into the sunshine (only joking!!) and I look forward to more challenging and competitive racing.

In my best Kimi voice:

Yeah, for sure, the car was good, and the team was good....we had some good races, finishing in the points some days.

I'm not sure where I'll be next year, maybe with Antares still, maybe another team - we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

But, yeah, for sure I'll be racing.
