The GMWC meteorology center advises us to expect the following conditions in Le Mans, France, on Saturday, 7/4:

  • Cloudy with a 60% chance of rain and an average temperature (day+night) of 20.3C (68.5F)

  • Track temperature is expected to be 30.5C (86.9F).

Drivers should experience slightly increased engine performance under such conditions.

0% damage for the qual race?

Yeah - that's AJ's idea.  The suspicion is that there will be some people that show up stone cold on Le Mans.  And they can use the qual race to bounce themselves around the track and hopefully ramp up quickly enough to enjoy the enduro.  I wanted something non-zero, but meh - it's just a qualy race.

I actually think that's a good idea, because it means that one person can't accidentally ruin qualifying for anyone else by overshooting a turn, etc.

Damage has essentially no bearing on someone's ability to ruin qual for someone else.  0% damage doesn't keep someone from clobbering another driver in a turn, and the person who had their nice clean qual hot lap spoiled won't feel any better about it just because they're sitting in the gravel trap facing backwards in a perfectly undamaged car.
