The race is scheduled for 1.5 Hours and preceded by a 10 minute qual and 10 minute warmup. The start time for qualification will be 5:05PM Eastern (2:05PM Pacific/2105UTC). This will give time for any questions and to work out any technical issues prior to start time. The start time for the race will be 5:25PM Eastern (2:25PM Pacific/2125UTC), baring any unforseen circumstances.
Couple of notes about this race. I have increased the length from 1.2 hours to 1.5 hours. I'd like to get a test at this length to see how people feel towards longer races. It is only 18 minutes longer than our previous races, so the difference isn't that huge. It is an enduro after all.
Another point is the track itself. We have never raced Sears Point and in my testing the track runs sub-80 second laps, is only 3.2km and I would like to have it vetted for a potential spot with GPs. I had considered running Laguna Seca, but we have run races in both GTs and GPs there before and I wanted something unique for this event.
Finally, I have moved the date back to the 22nd. I am hoping to give us plenty of time for setup prep, track vetting, publicity (?), and finally to ensure we don't have six straight races to start the season (Dijion in 11B, the enduro, and the first two cups of 11C). If AJ or Hoss would like the event moved back to the Oct 1st date it was originally intended for, then they can move it there.
Any thoughts about the choice of track or length of the race?
Just one technical issue Zack,, my backside can't take 90 mins sat racing. Sorry but that length don't appeal to me.
Relative to the total racing time of our GP setup, the 90 minute race is only 15 minutes longer on average. (Assuming three 10 minute sprints and a 45 minute feature). Add in Qual times and its 100 to 97 minutes. The biggest difference is the fact that the endurance race is all consecutive and the sprints/feature have multiple small breaks.
Would it be more palatable if there was either A) a longer break mid-way, B) two 5 minute breaks at 30 minute intervals or C) including the 5 or 10 minute break in the run time (so instead of 90 minutes of racing there would be 85 minutes of racing with a 5 minute break)
Zack I'm really wanting to make that race but its Alabama week, you being a Florida fan should understand the importance of that week for a TN guy, so until game time has been announced I will not be confirming attendance. Interesting that you chose the weekend you did, huge coincidence that its a bye week or Florida I guess
