2010C1 - Spa setup

Posted by Andy Jones at August 20. 2010

All righty then. This is gonna a bit trickier this season, cos the cars are really quite a bit different.

Nonetheless, let's talk !

What's the story about managing that red hot front left tyre I keep getting. It's obviously the long, downhill right handers at Bruxelles and then at what I think of as Stavelot although it's proper name might be Campus and Paul Frere.

Given a car that feels relatively neutral in general - what would you fiddle with ?

Cambers, springs and tire pressures .

Am I trying to soften the stressed corner or firm it up ? I seem to remember in the past increasing tyre pressure to increase temp.

Not sure as I not had this at Spa, track testing time will answer your question.  I would suggest opening up  those cambers though first. then fine tune the tire pressures.

I think that may be a good plan

I'm dropping ABS this season, so want to stick with a car that will brake straight. I also need to validate if all my setups have this effect or if I've done something with the suspension which is inducing it.

Wonderful and unremittingly beautiful as the MRDC 2010C is, managing the tyres will be the problem this season. And with our slowpoke pit crew, additional sojurns in the pit lane are also not recommended.

Damn, it's fast out on track, though :)
