Suzuka - the plan?

Posted by Mike Redman at July 28. 2008

Teammates:

I will be back home early Thursday morning, so will only have Thursday and Friday to prep for Suzuka, and therefore won't be of much use to either myself or the team for this weekend.  To be honest, I've got few expectations at this track as I've struggled here in the past.  You guys have run here in our current chassis, what setup(s) are out there that can be put on the table, and what do people see as important at this track?

Although there are some long straights, a LOT of time can be lost in the curves if you don't have enough downforce. I'll have to look at my last Suzuka setup to see.

Who's tire is that.....somebody from the Brickyard from yesterday?  Or is that Ralf's from 2005?

So, a fairly high downforce car is needed

It seems our current leader in both the previous practice sheets and previous race event at Suzuka is Celso in the 1:39's, so perhaps he can join in the discussion...for the team's sake, of course!  :)

Last season I did race laps at 1:40s. Now I am at 1:43 with the same setup.

2 changes - a) gyrotech versus last season AS1  and b) I gave up all helps including the steering wheel help.

I recommend us to keep high wings.

Tires are not so bad here - so we need to decide if we go for 2 stops (8 to 9 laps each, total 25) or 1 stop (13 laps).

I think we can use red tires on 2 stop strategy.

Post what you got!  After a post red-eye flight nap on Thursday I wanna jump straight into the car!

Thanks for your thoughts, Celso.
