Time for a new Wheel?
Up to Computing & Gaming
I've been using a Logitech MOMO for several years now. In the last 6 months it's developed a bit of an annoying habit. When going down a straight, you would ordinarily feel resistance in the wheel if you nudged it left or right. Well it's now developed a habit or randomly loosing that resistance on one or the other side and then the car swerves to one side. Last weekend it also started doing it in the long last uphill turn at Fuji. I'd be turning in, and all of a sudden the car would straighten up a little - very disconcerting.
My settings haven't changed for a long time, and can quote them if necessary, but I'm thinking, as this seems to be progressviely getting worse, it's probably time for a new wheel.
I'd like suggestions on a new wheel/peddle combo. Price isn't really an issue - I'd be happy to pay as much as $500 if I got what I want. I'd like to avoid the G25 style stuff....I like smaller more compact steering wheels that can be found in open-wheel cars, with paddle shift, of course.
Thanks for any feedback.
Mike
I like a smaller wheel and I like a lot of buttons. I also like it to give me good fast FFB information, but not be too "thick" or "heavy" in feel.
I am curious to see what the current state of wheel is, as sampled by our league. I still use a DFGT, although to be honest, I thought my DFP was smoother. And it was smaller.
I'm saving up for the new Fanatec wheel...One of their new ones just dropped (Standard CSR) and has had great reviews so far. I'm waiting for their slightly more "up-scale" version (CSR Elite) of that same wheel. It'll have a hot-swappable wheel and will ship with a GT-style, but will have an F1-style as an optional purchase. I plan on getting a set of their load-cell pedals (CSR Elite, again, which is now available) as well. I've thought about getting their shifter, but Thrustmaster just released the shifter for their ts500 line, and it looks like a much better product...so that's the CSR-Elite wheel, CSR-Elite pedals, and thrustmaster shifter...at some point in the future
I'd actually considered all of the thrustmaster ts500 products, but the paddle shifters on their wheel are immobile, they don't turn with the wheel, making some upshifts and downshifts awkward.

How about this?
Is this one of those that have fixed shifter paddles, Dennis?
