G25/27 setup and use hints
Up to Support
OK......so I finally had to replace my MOMO and got a G27 on the way. I hope it gets here on Fri like the tracking info says !
What hints/tricks can you give me?
How many degrees of rotation do you use? Does the ingame steering degrees setting need to be tweaked?
Thanks
I've had a G25 since 2007. Been thru a lot of bullshit. FFB is a programmers best guess, RealFeel is a plugin that calculates real forces right off the steering rack. It is a bit testy to setup, but once done and understood it is quite easy to maintain and to add new cars. With RealFeel installed and the FFB motors turned on low, the G25/27 will last for years.
The Logitech Profiler is the starting place for all this. In the Options Menu select Global Device Settings (same window as the Game Controllers/Properties/Settings) :
Overal Effects Strength = 100% (gets funky when more than 105%)
Spring Effects Strength = 0 to 25 % ( 0 values here tend to give the wheel way too light steering)
Damper Effects Strength = 0 to 25%
Enable Centering Spring = unchecked
Centering Spring Strength = 0 to 25%
Report Combined Pedals = unchecked
Degrees of Rotation = 900 (for TC I like to use 720 for GT & Prototype or 540 for formula)
Allow Game to Adjust setting = checked
This would be a Baseline for any racing game.
Next is to create a profile for rFactor, I have multiple installs of rFactor, I setup the shortcuts here.
If you have multiple processors, this is the command to make use of them :
\rFactor\rFactor.exe +fullproc +highprio
From the Edit Menu, select Specific Game Settings :
Use Special FFB DeviceSettings = checked
Overal Effects Strength = 100%
Spring Effects Strength = 0
Damper Effects Strength = 0
Enable Centering Spring = unchecked
Centering Spring Strength = 0
Use Special Steering Wheel Settings = checked
Report Combined Pedals = unchecked
Degrees of Rotation = I like to use 720 for TC, GT & Prototype and 540 for formula
Use Special Game Settings = checked
Allow Game to Adjust setting = checked
There's your Profiler.
Check the Contoller.ini file for the line : Steering Wheel Range=xxx
The RealFeel plugin will have some Controller.ini ffb settings also.
Kind of a general starting place anyway, now go have some big phat phun.

This is quite good for me the only difference is I set my rotation down far more than that of Moe. Mine pretty much coincides with the rotation that is visible on screen to that of my G25 which is roughly 190 degs. This is pretty much user prefence tho. The file works a treat tho.
