Grid Motorsports r983 is available
Up to Support
There's a new installer available for r983, which is the release containing the new formula for the 2010C season, allowing you to conduct client-side vehicle prototyping (what we call 'CSP').
Please see the download page, and use the Megaupload links to get the pieces of the installer:
http://gridmotorsports.com/client
NOTE: this is a FULL install of the new version of Grid Motorsports. Once you've run the installer (the installer, not the thing that puts the installer pieces together) that's all you need to do. You don't have to do any updating or syncing or anything after that. Just run rFactor and enjoy.
It is strongly recommended that you do one of the following BEFORE using the new installer:
- Just delete the
GameData\Vehicles\GridMotorsportsfolder. ALSO delete any 'Grid-*' files in therFmdirectory.
OR:
- Run the uninstaller for your current GridMotorsports install.
This ensures that you have a clean slate for the r983 install, and should avoid any mismatch problems with the multiplayer server.
If you have any problems with the install, or with using the CSP features, please post here and we'll collect any solutions to common problems.
To build vehicle prototypes, follow the usual procedure. Here's the primer as a reminder:
- Copy
GameData\Vehicles\GridMotorsports\formula\gp2010c_example.cfgto your driver profile directory (Userdata\<drivername>\Settings\GMWC_PrototypeVehicles). Edit the cfg file to suit your design efforts. You can make multiple prototypes via multiple copies of the cfg file. Just be sure that the 'name' options are changed to be unique. - Run the GridMotorsports mod manager.
- Click on the Update tab.
- View the Advanced Options.
- UNCHECK 'synchronize mod files with remote server'. THIS IS CRUCIALLY IMPORTANT, since for many people the sync phase still doesn't behave correctly with various flavors of windows. So you don't want to sync, you just want to rebuild.
- CHECK 'build prototype cars (will cause online mismatch)'. This is what causes the resulting build to include your new prototype vehicles, via the cfg files.
- Click the Update button.
- After the build finishes, run rFactor and test out your new prototype vehicles.
- If you want to tweak them, close rFactor, edit the cfg files, redo steps 2-8. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Note that once you've built any prototypes, your GridMotorsports mod ID number will be different than the official server, and you'll need to reset the mod before you can join the server for any official races. Just rebuild the mod with the 'build prototypes..' option UNCHECKED.
Very good. Installed and prototypes building. Just had to remember to select my profile on the Driver tab after the fresh install
