Bug in the damage model?

Posted by Dennis Loyer at November 01. 2009

So, I decided to test the front suspension damage model to see if a point really needed to be spent for a suspension that didn't break. I figured what better place to test the suspension that Surfer's Paradise with its killer barriers. With the damage set to a feature race's 24%, I drove into one of the barriers on the back straight at full tilt. The wheel came of beautifully! I really liked seeing it bounce down the track!. Finding that the car was still somewhat drivable, I decided to see what would happen if I pulled into the pits. Imagine my surprise to find the tire was replaced! The suspension wasn't, but the tire was! I was able to drive off with a perfectly working car and a right front tire that was magically mounted to a non-existent, yet fully working front-right suspension!

I'm hoping this is simply an issue with the current 09c damage model and that the 10a damage model will work correctly in this sort of situation?
