Grid Motorsports updated to r910 (build id:32cda)

Posted by David Hostetler (Admin) at January 14. 2010

We had to do a mod update prior to this weekend's event in order to deploy a fix for the curb problem.  Simply swapping out Suzuka for a different track wasn't really an option, since it would only have slightly postponed the issue.  According to AJ, the problem manifests on a lot of the other tracks we've got on the schedule for this season.

Anyway -- the update was published in the normal way, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to use the mod manager to acquire the update.

If, however, that doesn't work for you (as seems to be the case more and more often), we've made a old-fashioned delta patch to get from r902 to r910.   r902, as you'll recall, is the version you get when you use the last full installer we released.  The patch is here:

http://gridmotorsports.com/files/gridmotorsports/gridmotorsports-patch-r902-910.exe

It's an exe, but it's nothing fancy - it's just a self-extracting 7zip archive.

Be sure to extract it to the root rFactor folder!!

I repeat: point the patch at the top rFactor installation folder.  Do NOT point it at GameData\Vehicles\GridMotorsports (or anywhere else).

Answer 'yes' to anything that it wants to overwrite (that's the whole point).  Once it's done, you (should) have a perfectly good r910 version of the mod ready to use.  You don't need to sync or build or even run the mod-manager at all if you don't want to (although any mod-related graphics choices you make would require you to rebuild to ensure that they're in effect -- but rebuilding hasn't been as problematic as syncing).

If anyone has any issues with the normal update process, or with applying this patch if it's necessary for you to do so, please post here with the usual info (log file, good description of the problem, etc..).

Thanks!

Ditto.. even with it coming up and saying rsync had failed.

Zack - that's actually a little disconcerting...  if the sync in fact actually did fail, then there isn't any way for it to legitimately build the r910 contents.

Can you post the log file from your update session?  Note that it will be a relatively large log file, and if you've run GM more than once since then the log is gone.

I had no problems with update after my first error being 0xc000022 error. but after sorting that out with a reload of win 7 and dropping backup of gridmotors folder into new install of rFactor. Ran the gridmotors.exe tonight and updated perfectly thank you. :))
