Event Formats

Details about the format of official league events.

The league conducts at least one official event almost every week.  Our race sessions typically consist of multiple races on one track.  Each season (of which we have several per year) consists of one or more series championships, conducted in parallel.  Each series consists of a predetermined track rotation and schedule, from which we rarely deviate once the season is under way, although we purposefully incorporate changes between seasons.

Server

  • We host several dedicated rFactor servers for league activities, but all official events are conducted on the main server, which is located at: rfactor.gridmotorsports.com, on the default rFactor port.

  • It's online 24/7, excepting for brief downtime when it's being updated or reconfigured.

  • It's configured for open (non password-protected) practice sessions at all times except when we're conducting an official league event.

  • During official league events, the server is password-protected.  The password will be provided to members when they join the league.

Schedule

  • Events are currently conducted on two independent slots:

    • Friday @ 9pm EDT (which is actually 01:00 UTC Saturday)

    • Saturday @ 5pm EDT (21:00 UTC).

  • Each event is conducted according to its specified format.

  • The schedule of events for the current season is available for reference.

  • After the event is completed, we generally immediately reset the server for practice mode on the track for the scheduled event.

Configuration

The following configuration settings are common for most of the event formats, although the description for the specific format should be referenced:

  • Tire wear is usually set to 3x (this complements our mod's tire wear curves and gives us the flexibility of adjusting the wear rate either up or down depending on event goals).

  • Fuel usage is set to 2x.

  • Mechanical failures are set to 'Normal'.

  • All aids are enabled with the exception of invulnerability (INV).  If an event deviates from this, it will be noted in the event announcement.

  • Qualification sessions are conducted in Private mode, which means that each driver has the track to themselves for the duration of the session.
