Club Day

by David Hostetler [modified 2009-03-14 20:46] [posted 2008-02-04 22:44]

Description

This format represents an informal, casual day at the track.  But it's more than just a practice day.  Drivers show up, talk shop, talk trash and run some races, just for fun.

The club day is intended to be a good fallback format for when one of the open schedule slots hasn't generated any other specific suggestions, and/or there isn't anybody available or willing to take on the role of admin/organizer.  But people still have the event marked on their calender and want to get their race on.

Schedule

Typically just a sequence of medium length qual session (~10-15 minutes) followed by short to medium length race.  As many as will fit into the alotted time.  Maybe multiple vehicle classes are fielded, maybe not.  If someone is present that has admin credentials, then they're welcome to change the server config to cater to whatever those in attendance feel like doing, within reason.  So the template shown here is just a default.

Races

  • a timed qualifying session (~10-15 minutes)
  • standing start
  • a fixed length race lasting about 10 minutes (the lap count for the race is adjusted according to track length)

(optional) Long Race

  • a qualifying session with no lap limit (15 minutes)
  • a 10 minute warmup/intermission
  • formation lap followed by a standing start
  • a fixed length race of ~40 minutes in duration (the lap count for the race is adjusted according to track length)
