Frequently asked questions about Grid Motorsports.

The following is a collection of questions and concerns that have either consistently surfaced or that we anticipate surfacing.  If there's something you don't see here, check the forums, and if you still don't find it, please ask on the forums.

How do I join?

Follow the instructions on the new member guide.  Be sure to read the league rules.  Submitting an application is considered acknowledgement that you've read and agreed to the terms of membership.

Why can't I post in the forums?

Because you don't have a website login yet.  You can get one by either submitting the league application, or by simply emailing us at help@gridmotorsports.com and requesting a website login.  We used to allow self-registration on the website, but unfortunately had to disable it due to rampant abuse by spammers and bots.  (Congratulations on ruining the internet, jerks!)

How do I join a team?

Just fill out the vehicle form, and be sure to specify the team that you're joining.  You don't necessarily need to fill out any other part of the form, although be aware that joining a team often means that your personal vehicle must adhere to the team's vehicle specification (which can impose restrictions on none or nearly all of the vehicle options).  You're encouraged to discuss the details of the team with its existing members prior to submitting the form.  Every team has its own section on the forum.

How do teams function in the league?

Please review the team policies.  Basically, anyone can form a team.  The key element of the league's team policy is that drivers can affiliate (i.e. 'join') any team they wish - they do not need to be invited/recruited/tested/evaluated or anything like that.  A team cannot reject you if you want to join it.

How do I create a custom skin for a vehicle?

The details of this are too arcane to describe in the FAQ, but if you generally know what you're doing, then what you're really after is the skin template that's appropriate for our cars.  The grid-gp cars are all compatible with the original ISI FIS skin template, but here's a very nice one that we prefer to use.
