Scuderia DeLoyer implodes?
For immediate release:
Seattle WA, November 27th, 2008 - The rumors
are flying thick and fast here in the city by the sea. Stories of monster egos,
broken sponsorship contracts, harsh word, gold zeppelins being thrown across the
rooms, and childish temper tantrums. One persistent rumor is the impending break
up of the once powerful team, Scuderia DeLoyer. Amid the wild stories and even
wilder accusations some truth is starting to emerge. While it's now an announced fact that team driver Chris Jones will be leaving to form his own
team, what isn't clear is the future status of the rest of the team's drivers.
It's now apparent that Chris will be taking Brandon with him when he transfers
his flag to the newly formed RAC team. They, along with former indie driver
Sammy, will form the backbone of the new team. Rumors are that Matt Lewis may
also be forming his own team as a sister team to SDL, along with Brian and Tom
C. The new team will be using the current DLR2 unchanged, until they can find investors to fund their own research and development efforts. They will also form a technical partnership with SDL, yet compete for the Team Chamionship seperately. This leaves a much diminished SDL with just Dennis, C, and Stuart. Experts say
that the separation of the once power house team into three smaller teams will
greatly improve the competition in the Team Championships. Having such a large
number of dominant drivers in one team wasn't healthy for the sport, and if you
listen to the rumors, it wasn't healthy for it's drivers either. One
medical technician within SDL's headquarters has stated, anonymously, that a
number of SDL's drivers have been treated recently for lacerations, and bruises.
Bruises suspiciously shaped like zeppelins. When asked if he was violating
patient-doctor privileges, the tech went on to say "Hey, I'm not a real doctor,
I'm just a guy that took some first aid courses, and heck, I didn't even finish
those! Never got my certificate or nothin'! SDL's too cheap to pay for anything
more than that...too cheap or too broke. I hear that bastard spends all his
money on gold zeppelins. He's supposed to have a whole room full of 'em. The
board would love to get rid of Mr. Loyer but can't. He's got some
kind of hold over 'em...pictures or something I hear. I don't blame those guys
for leaving though. Gettin' hit by one o' them zeppelins has got to hurt. They're gold,
and gold is heavy, ya know?"
